How To Get More Views On YouTube By Posting Less Videos
Everyone on YouTube wants to get more views on their videos, and there are TONS of tips out there on how to do it – some of which are on this site. With that being said, very few of those will tell you that you can get more views while actually posting less videos. This one, however does. Well, it doesn’t say upload less necessarily, but it helps you be able to start uploading videos that are much more likely to get more views. With that being said, let’s get into it!
The 80/20 Principle
This method uses the 80/20 or Pareto Principle which states that 80 percent of your results come from 20 percent of your efforts. For YouTube, this is rephrased to 80 percent of your channel’s views come from just 20 percent, or less, of your channels’ videos. For my personal channel, this is even more drastic. 95 percent of my channel’s monthly views come from 5% of the videos that I have uploaded to my channel. That is freaking insane, and realizing that has allowed me to start uploading videos that are better targeted for my audience and get more views even though views decrease drastically this time of the year. Using this principle, you can do this too, and you can get more information on Pareto Principle by checking it out on Wikipedia here.
Step One: Analyzing Your Stats
Now, it’s time to get started on implement this on your YouTube channel. The first and foremost step is analyzing your YouTube channel’s stats from the last month. You can view this on YouTube directly at this link, or you can locate it by going to your YouTube video manager, clicking “Analytics” in the sidebar, and then clicking “Views” on the expanded analytics tab. Once you are on that page, you need to scroll down and look at the top 10 videos that are shown there. Now, it’s time to move on.
Step Two: What Videos Should You Upload
These videos are the 10 most viewed videos on your channel in the past month. Looking at the top 10 videos, see what similarities they have, and figure out why they are the most viewed videos. You want to start uploading more videos exactly like these because they are what is getting you views. By uploading more videos like this, you should start to get more views as these videos have had success before, and most of your subscribers and viewers likely found your channel through these videos.
Step Three: Start Uploading Those Kind of Videos
As I mentioned, it is now time to start upload. Begin replicating your top videos in the best way that you possibly can, and watch your videos start getting more views as it will be exactly how your viewers found you and what they want. You could now stop uploading as much content, but actually get more views at this point. With that being said, that isn’t what I would recommend. I would keep the same upload schedule you have now, but just upload the kind of content your viewers are looking for, which was found using the above method. This will yield the best result and the most views for you and a happier audience.
